Making the decision to come for counselling is hard and choosing the right counsellor even harder. I know as I was once in your position. The most important part of the counselling is the relationship and finding someone you feel comfortable with. I consider myself to be honest and open with a friendly and down to earth approach. I try to be as honest as I can be and as an experienced counsellor encourage you to do the same by providing you with a warm and relaxed confidential space in which to explore your feelings.
I am an Integrative counsellor which means I am trained in a number of different approaches and so we are not restricted in how we work and can choose the best approach to suit your needs. Although my main approach is relational.
What Can I expect from Counselling?
Together we will build a relationship with a view to reducing any emotional suffering whether it be making a decision or developing coping skills, reaching a goal, empowering or supporting you. Counselling can help you make a positive change to your life.
What happens next?
The next step can be difficult. I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation in which you can see how we get along, discuss your needs and ask any questions you may have. I can promise you will receive a warm reception but if you feel unable to do this you can make your initial contact by email. We will discuss a suitable location and time slot for you and the counselling will begin. Your sessions will be weekly and will last for 50 minutes. These will normally be made for the same time each week and after your first session we will agree on how many sessions will be needed. For couples counselling these sessions will be 1hr 15 mins and family will depend on how many members are attending the session.
